2000 Andrea Doria Photos V

All images on this page © 2000 by Christina Young.

These are pictures from the 2000 Seeker / Mad Dog 3-day expedition to the Andrea Doria, approximately 107 miles off Montauk, New York, under 250 feet of water in the North Atlantic, which took place on July 29-31, 2000 (continued from page IV).

Looking up and out at the huge break, coming out of the foyer deck.  The entire bow is breaking off.
This is me (Christina) at the very end of my dive, about to ascend up the anchor line.  Notice the blue hue of my Sartek HID light.  Chuck Hatcher shot this one.
In between dives, Wahoo mate Frank Pellegrini swims over to the Seeker to show us this beautiful vase that he found.  It is signed by the artist on the bottom, and was most likely a souvenir from someone's vacation, or bought in the gift shop.
This is a huge beam sticking up from the lido deck (bottom, left).  It might have been part of the ceiling of the boat deck or the promenade.
There are mounds of wreckage at the bottom of every deck (the "bottom" is the starboard side).  This is some fallen wreckage at the 240 foot level.  There are many artifacts to be had by rummaging through it.
More wreckage, perhaps a fallen floor.
Hanging electrical cables are one of the many hazards inside the wreck.
As I head back to the tie-in point at the end of my dive, I see the Swedes exploring above me.
