Sonny Gortych, Christina Young and Darren Lynch drop stage bottles in preparation for penetration into wreck, on the way to the First Class galley area. There are two known ways into this area of the wreck. One is through a set of double doors used for loading supplies on the deck above, into a room full of industrial dishwashers, swim down a dumbwaiter shaft to the deck below, then through a long, narrow corridor to the First Class galley. The second way (what we are preparing to do here) is to squeeze through a tight fracture in some collapsed decks, find an exposed I-beam that is holding these decks outward, and drop down through a hole below it into the outer First Class food prep area. Andy Driver (with Cis-Lunar Mk-5 rebreather) on the bow with Steve Kaser, owner of Dive Grenada, the dive shop we used. Steve runs a nice operation, and has hundreds of dives on this wreck. Image from video by Enrique Alvarez.
Christina Young and Sonny Gortych swim over the promenade, heading back to the ascent line at the end of the dive. Parts of the wreck are sideways, parts are twisted, but most of the wreck actually sits upright. Image from video by Enrique Alvarez.
This is the fallen outside door looking forward towards the bow from the long hallway on the port side of the upper deck. In the upper righthand part of the picture you can see the lip which is part of the hatchway to the cavernous No. 2 hold. Image from video by Christina Young.
